Hi Friend,

So we have SET the goal, WHY we want to achieve it, and HOW we are going to implement change..

Next up we have the ACCOUNTABILITY, who is keeping tabs on us to make sure the new habits are being completed.

How many times have you said you were going to do something for yourself, set time aside, then something simply pops up and it doesn’t get achieved.

Generally we are either driven to succeed by proving to ourselves, or the accountability to another person.

Which one are you ?

Individual - You are the type of person that wants to prove to themselves they can do it. You like to see progress, tick things off your list, a thriver. If this sounds like you, the calendar system or simply don’t break the chain scenario may be a good place to start.

Revisit your HOW, what is the best way for you to track your own progress?

Example 01 - Marking a calendar with a dot or X each time it is done - don’t break the chain of events

Example 02 - Mark the event in your notebook or journal, simply find a place you look at multiple times a day and find the marking that works for you. Don't break the chain!

Example 03 - Breaking down the steps in a checklist app like Trello. Where you can either keep to yourself or share with another person.

You serve others - Potentially keeping a promise to yourself isn’t enough drive, but if you say you are going to meet someone or tell someone and they are expecting a response from you, that is your driver. (Me personally I am this variation and found that actually having people that I have told things too and a deadline to achieve it really helped be just get Sh*t done towards the back end of last year)

Revisit your HOW, and let’s talk accountability to track your own progress

Example 01 - Tell someone. A family member, friend, coach, work colleague. Fill them in on what you are doing. Ideally someone you interact with regularly. The more people that are aware the more you will be asked “oh hey how are you going with X”

Example 02 - Meet someone, whether it is to do the actual task or schedule a weekly/daily check in. Reporting info to another person will bring it more to light and keep it in the forefront of your mind

Example 03 - Use an app that is shared with another person who can see. Trello is a great goal setting, tick listing , action taking app that can be shared. Fitness apps such as My fitness Pal, step trackers, apple watch etc also record data that can be shared.

Maybe you are one of these types or maybe you connect with both.

Either way create your ACCOUNTABILITY tool. How will you TRACK this process?

I’d love to hear what you choose or try that resonates with you.

Until next week Nikki
